Some times (quite often?), reducing waste requires extra effort on our part - one has to plan ahead and make that coffee and remember to fill that reusable cup and then, take it with us, bring it back, wash it, etc. in order to reuse it the next time. Much easier to buy a cup of coffee and toss the empty cup afterwards. We did have one conversation about food waste this week. Jo wanted to know what i was going to do with the two bags of Percy Pigs in the baking cupboard- this was staright after he told me he wasn't going to join string group. I told him i was going to throw them in the bin. That's food waste, he pointed out indignantly. Well, is that worse than talent waste? I countered.
