... never boils.
First thing every morning I make a cup of tea. But I find it hard to stand in the kitchen doing nothing waiting for it to boil. So I use those minutes to do something useful
- I might pop to the bathroom and clean my teeth
- Write a shopping list
- Match up the unpaired socks in the laundry bin
- Rip up yesterday's teabags - leaves into compost, bags into bin
- Empty the dishwasher

I stand and stare out of the window.
ReplyDelete(I use loose tea; better flavour in my opinion, and no microplastics in the teabags. 🫖☕️)
My teabags are not home compost able, but they are plastic free
DeleteExcellent!
DeleteI usually brush my teeth while I wait for the water to boil for tea in the morning. Or, if I have already brushed my teeth, then, I might put away any dishes that were left to air dry in the dish drainer. Or, open the drapes and feed the garden cats. :)
ReplyDeleteOpening curtains/drapes is a good idea
DeleteWipe over the cooker hood, which is always dusty, sort out bread/soup etc from freezer for lunch. Like you I can’t just stand there!

Sorting out lunch plans is a Very Good idea (preventing the "oh dear I should have defrosted that earlier" comment at midday)
DeleteMy husband is a sweetheart and brings me a cup of tea in bed each morning, so I read my favourite blogs while waiting, like yours.
ReplyDeleteHow kind of him. I, too, drink my tea in bed and catch up on blogs
DeleteSometimes I go to the loo whilst it boils or go and empty the compost caddy into the compost bin or get the mugs out and put the leaves in the pot but sadly only on non school days. School days are just a big panic to get out the door, no tea usually!
ReplyDeleteI have always started the day with a cuppa, but when teaching it was a rush, and I'd be all over the place doing 3 things at once
DeleteWatch the birds on the bird feeder while standing on one leg, then the other to improve my balance. Sometimes I also do push-ups against the door. I never have the time for full-on exercise sessions so I try to sneak in little bits here and there.
ReplyDeleteI occasionally stand on one leg whilst cleaning my teeth 🪥
DeleteI sort out Beano's treatments and gaze out the window, still pinching myself, can't believe I'm finally free.
ReplyDeleteI'm so thrilled that it is working out well for you, a moment of grateful rejoicing is a good start to any day
DeletePaul makes the morning cuppa, so I grab a few minutes of extra sleep!
ReplyDeleteWise move! He's a very good bloke
DeleteI check if the plants in the conservatory need watering, or I just stand and watch the birds flying about, daydreaming. I empty the dishwasher in the evening. Regards Sue H

DeleteI'm another curtain-opener also front door unlocker. Then I put away last night's washing-up because life is just too short to waste it drying dishes.
ReplyDeleteAir drying is good imho
DeleteI drink warm water in the morning so I prepare my porridge and fruit while the kettle is boiling. Catriona
ReplyDeleteA true Scots woman, do you have oats all year round?
DeleteI do no matter how warm the weather is. C
Delete👍😊❤️
DeletePut my eye drops in and take my pills. Generally look at the rain out of the window. Sigh!
ReplyDeleteIf I put eye👀 drops in, I can't bear to look at anything for ages, I just blink lots 👀
DeleteDH does the early morning tea. He makes the next batch of kefir while the kettle boils.
ReplyDeleteVery useful
DeleteSometimes I feed the dogs while the kettle boils but other times, if I’m only half awake I stare out of the window and watch the birds on the feeders.

Pets are a responsibility!
DeleteI open the blind, then the next job is feeding Sheva cat as she is always starving! I wash last night's glasses and clean her litter tray. Then wash my hands before I make our cuppa. Xx
ReplyDeleteLast week I was feeding my neighbours cats as she was away. I'd put my kettle on, dash across to her house, then dash back to make my tea. In my pjs!! But it is a very quiet close...
DeleteI have a coffee made in a plunger and whilst the kettle boils I feed my tiny dog and open the blinds as I hate being shut in. JennyP
ReplyDeleteOpening blinds and curtains and letting the morning light shine in is good for my mood
DeleteGazing out of the kitchen window, planning my garden, revelling in the sight of the bluetits nesting on my apple tree........ I dont move far!
ReplyDeleteBut what lovely views...
