My embroidery machine has really come into its own in the past few weeks. I have really enjoyed making bibs for new babies. In fact I have done 6 since we moved [forgot to photograph one of them]
The parents have chosen special names for their children, and it is a joy to give a personalised gift like this.I always look up the meaning, and wonder if the child will have those character traits. But websites vary, and you often get different meanings
Talitha - precious little daughter
Freya - noble lady of goodness and beauty
Alyson [not pictured] also noble
Elena - ray of light
Antoni [named for his polish grandfather] highly praiseworthy, of inestimable worth
Rudi - a famous wolf among men.
It has been a real joy to have George with us this week. Last time he was a babe in arms, now he is a real little character, responding to our words actions and learning little mannerisms.
Praying that our next grandchild arrives safely. Thank you for all your kind words recently. So many of you have sent private 'off blog' messages, and Liz and I have been touched by your comments.
I have been reading Psalm 139 recently -
You created every part of me; you put me together in my mother's womb…When my bones were being formed, carefully put together in my mother's womb, when I was growing there in secret, you knew that I was there - you saw me before I was born.
God bless and keep all these precious little ones, may they bring much joy and be surrounded by love and care.
I love the accompanying bird motifs too. Praying with you for the safe delivery of Rosie's sibling.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nicky - these are two of the many motifs which are preprogrammed into my embroidery machine. But in 17 years, this is the first time I've ever used them!
ReplyDeletePsalm 139 is a favourite of mine. Beautiful grandchildren. Praying for the new baby to arrive safely and a good delivery for Mum!
ReplyDeleteYou do such nice work embroidering those bibs. I'm sure the parents appreciate the personalized gifts. Choosing a name for a baby is such a special activity, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI, too, hope Liz has an easy delivery and baby will arrive safe and well.
Thanks Bushlady and Bless. It was hard saying goodbye to her this morning knowing I won't see her now till after the baby is born
ReplyDeleteThe bibs are beautiful and the names are lovely. Talitha- that's the little girl who Jesus healed in the Bible isn't it? I've never heard anyone called that before.
ReplyDeleteTop of the class, Kezzie. Mark chapter 5,the story of Jairus' daughter. I have known this Aramaic word all my life, but never come across a child called Talitha either
