How is a girl supposed to lose weight at this time of year? Monday night was our Borders Knitting Club Meal at The Foxhunter Carvery at Enderby. Fifteen of us were there.
Some of us are unable to be separated from our knitting, wherever we are. Veronica brought her newly finished Cat Tea-cosy
It is a Christmas gift, complete with a £2.99 teapot from Wilkinsons.
[My pot continues to dribble, so I went and got one of these pots myself the next morning!]
Linda brought in a ball of yarn sent by a relative in new Zealand. It is possum!!
The ball band claims it is 50% possum fur, 40% merino wool and 10% silk.
It felt beautifully soft. I am not sure what she plans to make with it though!
We had a really good evening together, with lots of laughs, catching up on news and family plans.
We didn't realise that their festive fayre menu was just food, though. If we wanted crackers, they expected us to bring our own.
Having had a great meal on Monday night, I feasted again on Tuesday with the Ladies Fellowship from Church [plus a few gentlemen who came along as The Drivers!]
This meal was greatly enjoyed by the two dozen who attended, and the staff at The Windmill Inn, Brascote, were wonderful. We were not the only large party in, and yet we were well served with excellent meals. And crackers! [note the party hats!]
Today I shall be dining on a simple meal of home-made carrot soup. It was such fun to be able to celebrate with friends like this. Especially when someone else is cooking and clearing up.
After lunch today I am off to yet another Carol Service with Bob.
It sounds like you had such a wonderful time. Fun, food and fellowship... it doesn't get much better!

A
She is not.
Season of goodwill to all means just say 'no' to weight loss.
Sounds like everyone had a good time and good things to eat!
ReplyDeleteLove the cat tea cozy! :)
It looks like you had a lovely time at the events you attended. It is always wonderful to celebrate with friends. I have never heard of yarn made from possum fur. Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteI just found this link with information about possums http://www.merinopossum.co.nz/
ReplyDeleteI did not realise that they were introduced to New Zealand from Oz, and now they have over 70 million of the things to contend with!!
The name 'possum' comes from an Algonquin Indian word [how bizarre!]
I think it's a bit mean that they didn't provide you with crackers! Where's the spirit of the season in that? Ang, you really are a neighbour of mine...my sister lives in Burbage, my aunt and uncle live in Sheepy, and I've got a ton of family in Hinckley and the surrounding villages.
ReplyDeleteWow! we may have even passed in the street and not known - I occasionally go to Hinckley on a Monday-Day-Off outing!
ReplyDeleteAng, thanks for these photos. It is good to see Nana looking so well - I believe she had several good 90th birthday parties and now she is obviously getting into the Christmas spirit!
