All Done In HIS Name

Yesterday I found this story on the BBC website [click here] and it is so inspiring that I wanted to share it.

Richard Humphreys, who has run a Christian charity in Lincolnshire called ‘HIS Church’ for the last six years, has managed to convince 90% of British Trading Standards authorities to hand over all the fake designer clothes they seize to them.

Using commercial embroidery machines [also seized from the counterfeiters and given to HIS by BTS] they can rebrand the items – and then give them away to the needy.

How creative is that?

What an amazing, practical demonstration of Christian love.

In Norfolk, the Salvation Army in Yarmouth are benefitting from these rebranded clothes. Over the past 12 months Norfolk Trading Standards has seized counterfeit goods worth tens of thousands of pounds.

"There is a thriving undercurrent economy here, which in the present economic climate will get worse," said Ann Jackson, senior officer with Norfolk Trading Standards."We're very keen to make sure these goods are used in an appropriate way and we see this as a win-win situation for the good guys - ourselves and the charities that are receiving - and a no-win for those who are trying to sell these goods."
