This week sees the start of the Leicester Comedy Festival. To alert people to this event, teams of dedicated guerrilla knitters have been out dressing up the city centre streets. Our lovely Leicester Seamstress Statue – representing all those women who slaved away in the hosiery industry now has a scarf, handwarmer and flowers.

I've always wanted to be a guerilla knitter! Around here they call it "yarn bombing," which is a bit violent for my tastes, but I like the idea of making the world a bit brighter with knitting.
