The Queen asked
The Dairymaid:
"Could we have some butter for The Royal slice of bread?"
The Queen asked the Dairymaid,
The Dairymaid said, "Certainly,
I'll go and tell the cow, now
Before she goes to bed."
The Dairymaid, she curtsied,
And went and told the Alderney:
"Don't forget the butter for the Royal slice of bread."
The Alderney said sleepily:
"You'd better tell His Majesty
That many people nowadays
Like MARMITE Instead!
It's either liked or not.

Mmmmmmm, Marmite on hot buttered toast.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get that jar? I have an English friend here who is obsessed with Marmite!

They are selling them in Aldi this week.
DeleteI LOVE Marmite and that poem is one of my favorite A.A. Milne! I get my Marmite from our local British Food Store. They tell me there that they sell loike hot cakes!
ReplyDeleteLOLOL! Love the parody. My son would love the marmite. We put a jar of Marmite XO extra old, matured with a stronger taste in his stocking last Christmas. The empty pot is now on my desk. I must look for one of these to go with it.
