Did you learn this poem at school, as I did? It is by the American poet Lizette Woodward Reese [1856-1935] Driving down the Norfolk country lanes whilst on holiday this week, I have been reminded of it.
Glad that I live am I;
That the sky is blue;
Glad for the country lanes,
And the fall of dew.After the sun, the rain,
After the rain the sun;
This is the way of life,
Till the work be done.All that we need to do,
Be we low or high,
Is to see that we grow,
Nearer to God on high.
Have a happy and blessed Sunday, dear friends!
We used to sing it as a hymn..it was a happy and jolly tune that did justice to the words.

Beautiful! I love it!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!
So did we. I loved it and still do.
ReplyDeleteHi Angela, I loved that song as a child and until I read this post had forgotten it. I love to hear my grandchildren singing their hymns learned at school.All things bright and beautiful is still the one I loved most from school and still do.
