Lots of little figlets coming along nicely – and look! See who is hiding behind all that lush green foliage…
And here is one delicious ripe fig, on my Coronation plate. The mug was £1.50 [Mind shop in Hinckley, Leicestershire, 25th July]and the two matching plates cost £1 for the pair [at the Scope shop in Sheringham, Norfolk, 14th August] I have not been into a charity shop since! How I came by the knife is another story for later…
Oooh! How exciting to have your own figs! There is something "extra" about eating fruit that one has grown oneself, I think, even prosaic things like tomatoes. And it's not just the fact that they taste better - it's a sense of achievement! At least, it is for me, as I have black thumbs!
ReplyDeleteTomatoes? I would love to grow my own tomatoes- but despite repeated attempts they never flourish round here!
DeleteHow lovely to have fresh figs straight from the tree.
ReplyDeleteIt is truly wonderful - and given my 'black thumbs' it is nothing short of a miracle!!
DeleteLove the fig tree, I wish I had room for one but sadly the garden is too small and we dont have a conservatory.I always imagine them to be too tender to have outside here in Uk but they are tough really arent they? Anyway, its the perfect home for Mr Giraffe!
ReplyDeleteImpressive figs and china! We could easily grow figs here... but no one in the family likes them. Most unfortunate.
ReplyDeleteMmmm, figs! I have a tree too but the squirrels keep getting to the ripe ones first and taking a big bite out of them and then leaving the rest. I'm trying to eat them and hoping I don't catch any squirrel malaise!
