Then I’ve knotted the top of the bag, and chucked it high up onto the top shelf of the wardrobe. But during the year, the bag sometimes gets dislodged and falls out, showering me with multicoloured festoons of 60 denier nylon…
This year, I am being neater. It must be old age creeping up on me. I cut some rectangles of card [cereal packets, old Xmas cards etc] approx 10x15cm, to fit some polybags I already had. Then I wrapped each pair of tights neatly round a card, and slipped it into a bag.
Once they were all bagged up, I found an empty box and put them away tidily. This is amazingly geeky, but I don’t care. Bazinga!
Now they should stay in place on the shelf for the summer, till October 1st. I already knew the word hibernation, the winter sleep – but have just learned another word – aestivation – the summer sleep. Which of your garments do you set aside to aestivate?
Wow, how neat and organised!!! And what an interesting word. I shoved most of my summery shoes in a suitcase in the list but got them down yesterday, not really done a summery equivalent! X

ReplyDeleteI don't think I've aestivated in such an organised way. I feel I should attack my tights drawer tomorrow and make some little rose bundles. I don't wear tights very often so perhaps they should just hiberaestvate all year.

Love the new word but am worried about you as you are definitely all geeking out! Do you have a 'spot' on the sofa that only you can sit on, do you wear a short sleeved t-shirt over a long sleeved one and do have an irresistible urge to play bazinga in a kids ball pit???

ReplyDeleteI am constantly forgetting that in Blogland, the weather my friends are experiencing is so varied - Jane has frightful cold right now in Canada, you have cool autumn in NZ - and we have sunshine and the spring flowers here in the UK. What a wonderful world!
DeleteI wear the same tights summer and winter - or rather I often don't wear any in the summer- but I have a load of cut down one-pint milk bottles in each of which I store one pair of rolled up tights and then pack the bottles close together in the drawer so I can see which pair I want .Geeky yes, but it works for me
ReplyDeleteWe have what seems like a constant garment rotation going on here in Wisconsin ... the seasons can overlap (and flip-flop) to such an extent that it's necessary to keep items handy for all kinds of weather. I think my shorts, sandals, and short-sleeve tees are the only garments that truly aestivate.
