Following some comments and questions about the cakestand post, I have asked Bob for advice about making these. He says
- practise on an old plate first
- mark the centre spot carefully [with a Sharpie]
- start drilling on the underside
- drill slowly, with steady pressure
- use water as a lubricant whilst you drill
- once the tip breaks through to top surface, stop!
- once tip starts to break through, use less pressure
- turn the plate over, finish from top side
- do not overtighten the screws when you assemble the stand
He certainly knows the drill!
UPDATE ON THE ELF
Grateful to my good friends Jean and Kara from church [they are Mother&Daughter Education Professionals Par Excellence, when it comes to Preschool and Foundation Stage] who have texted me to say that ELF = Early Learning Facilitator “We call the person that when they are either observing the children, or ‘playing’ with them and extending their learning”. So now we know – Thanks J&K!!
