Watching, weeping and praying, well said. I have many happy memories of spending hours there, and now, sadness.
Yes, it's very sad, isn't it? But, at least, it seems to have been accidental, not a deliberate act of destruction, such as when synagogues were burned during WWII or the Bamiyan Buddha statues were dynamited in 2001.
Yes, for that at least we can be truly grateful.
It is unbelievable - just grateful that no-one was killed.
There has been no further news on the injured fireman.
Awful tragedy. They are saying the basic structure is still sound but it will take years to rebuild and so much medieval wood and glass gone.
So very sad.
...and singing - people gathered to sing all night.
