A quote from George Fox, founder of the Society of Friends [aka the Quakers] which seems particularly apposite on what is expected to be a Very Hot Day...
Take care my friends, and avoid Macbeth's "heat-oppressed brain"
It’s so hot today in mid Scotland and we’re not used to it. I have been indoors most of the day and will lie in our darkened living room at 4pm and do a blissful hour of Pilates online. I’m deconstructing shirts for the fabric and buttons in the coolest room I can find in the house. Catriona
I do hope it cools down for tomorrow and the rest of the week! We had 33°C yesterday which is enough for me but this afternoon it is comfortable at 21°C. I could live with this temperature year round!
Little did he know how the word 'cool' would change it's meaning in the 21st century! But his words still work either way.
ReplyDeleteTrue - words do change meaning over time, but as you say, it still works
DeleteJust have to get to Wednesday and all will be fine - hopefully! x
ReplyDeleteYou too, Ang.x
ReplyDeleteHoping and praying school will not be unbearable on Monday!
Thinking of you Kezzie in hot portakabin classrooms
DeleteStay cool, Angela! I hope the heat wave is of short duration.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I'm wilting
DeleteToday's New York Times news headline says Britain bracing for hottest day ever! I hope you and family stay well through this.
ReplyDeleteThanks Celine. We are not used to this heat as you are in parts of the USA
DeleteHaha ... I think my brain gets 'heat oppressed' very easily ;-)

ReplyDeleteI've been sitting in a cool room mending my sunhat!
DeleteIt's time for iced sweet tea and loose clothing! So says this child of the South! Stay hydrated and eat salty foods.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Cool drinks and salty snacks it is!
