A few years ago, my friend Carolyn asked if I had an easy knitting pattern, as she wanted to make something for the new grandchild they were expecting. Now she has become a very accomplished knitter. In August she sent me a picture of her grandson in her latest creation. And kindly passed the pattern on to me. "it took me about three weeks" she said.
C said she'd omitted the animals on the sleeves and kept them plain. I sent off for some yarn. And carefully upscaled the pattern to make a larger size - for my three youngest grandchildren aged 1½, 2½ and 3½ [sorry Rosie] I began knitting at the end of September, but life has been rather busy. I finished them on December 27th.
I am so pleased with them. So are the children. [I don't have pictures of them being worn yet] Thank you Carolyn! UPDATE
The are stunning. I would never have attempted them!

ReplyDeleteThe detail is embroidered on afterwards, prior to that the front was blue with four coloured blobs, and could have been anything!

ReplyDeleteI may knit one for a smaller "nibling" first. (Nibling is similar to sibling, only for nieces and nephews & their offspring)
DeleteWow amazing results! Really lovely. Would be great for you to have a pic of all three wearing them. Reminds me of the days I used to do intarsia Postman Pat, Thomas the Tank Engine and an elephant!

DeleteThose are AMAZING, well done. They will be loved for as long as they can squeeze into them. Of course the littlest grandchild will be able to wear the hand-me-downs and keep going for ages. :-)

ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to wonder if Jacob may start to get fed up of the pattern in 3 or 4 years time! I shall have to chat with Rosie about knitwear. She's currently living in a glorious rainbow cardi made by her paternal great aunt.

DeleteGreat sweaters. It takes me back to knitting jumpers with horses or trains or diggers on them. I knitted landscape ones for me when they were all the rage!
