Two of my four grandchildren really did not want to dress up today. So their Mums wisely let them wear regular clothes. Jacob was put into his green Pickle clothes and hat, but then he got unhappy about it too. Steph got a quick photo! Rosie absolutely nailed it in her Worst Witch outfit. Liz put her hair into cute plaits. She upgraded her broomstick, and travelled to school on her bike. I love this shot of her speeding along, her witch cloak flying out behind her
Rosie looks 'spot on' in her Worst Witch outfit, well done. Yes that is a great photo. Our youngest granddaughter went to school in a Pepper Pig dress. Only year 6 at the school our eldest son's children attend dress up. The rest of the children are allowed to go in, in pyjamas. So I was sent a photo of a ring master (I did not ask) and the other two looking like they had just rolled out of bed. Both Daddies read books to their children before bed.
ReplyDeleteYour last sentence is the best - World Book Day is just once a year, but nightly bedtime reading is so special, building family relationships AND a love of books!❤️
DeleteVery cute pickle and Rosie is one of the sweetest witches I've seen!
ReplyDeleteIsn't she just?!
DeleteRosie looks brilliant!!! Jacob looks v cute too! Kx
ReplyDeleteNot sure how long the hat stayed on ..
DeleteWhat a great worst witch and little pickle looks the part. Wise Mums not to force the dressing up issue and hope they all enjoyed World Book Day. Catriona

DeleteRosie looks fabulous. The photo of her on her bicycle is brilliant. Children are funny, they sometimes just won't do things, very wise of Steph to just agree. My daughter bought us nun costumes to go to a Sing along a Sound of Music, I am quite shy and when we arrived I said I didn't want to dress up. Okay she said, and then I saw everyone else dressed up and many nuns and changed my mind. We had a fab evening.
ReplyDeletePeer pressure! I have always felt that should I ever go to a singalong of the SOM,(unlikely) I should want to wear a dress which I had made from the curtains
DeleteOur grandson decided he would just wear a Harry Potter t-shirt and tracksuit pants, as yesterday was PE afternoon! I think he made the right decision, but watching dinosaurs, astronauts, fairies, etc running around was fun!
ReplyDeleteThe staff all joined in with the dressing up, headteacher was Willy Wonka, and the other staff all Oompa Loopas!
Bedtime reading is a big thing in our family, now grandson and his parents sit on his bed like three little birds on a branch and all read their own books, with grandson asking for help if he finds a word he doesn't understand (which is rare). He says he's too old now for having stories read to him, but they still have their quiet half hour just before bed! X
I like the idea of three birds on a branch!!
DeleteI love the action shot of Rosie with her witches cape billowing out behind her. :-)
ReplyDelete👍❤️🚴♀️
DeleteRosie looks great! And how lovely that each child can dress up or not as they prefer.
Delete👍
DeleteLooks like great fun
ReplyDeleteAlison in Wales x
😉
DeleteRosie on the bicycle is worth having made into a large photo you can frame! JanF
ReplyDeleteGood idea
DeleteRosie looked delightful and with her cloak streaming behind her looked ready for take off. Wise Steph not to force the issue of dress up. Our granddaughter went as Hermione. I have also read that some Heads of schools in more deprived areas said children could just go in their pj's. Xx
ReplyDeleteI think there were a lot of Harry Potter themed costumes
DeleteThat is a brilliant photo. I think you should have it enlarged and put on a wall, or sent to publishers!
ReplyDelete👍
DeleteYour grands ae too cute and wonderfully self assurred!
ReplyDeleteWe've off to the library today - how perfect!
Hugs!
👍
DeleteGreat pic of Rosie but tut-tut, no helmet?Even witches need their heads protected.x
ReplyDeleteShe usually wears one, not sure what happened there...
DeleteThe pickle hat works beautifully but I think it must have some hidden antennae that clued Jacob in to the fact that "something is going on!" He very wisely decided to opt out since he didn't know what it was. Rosie looks great and that is a lovely photo with the cape flowing. Made me think of a college student on a bike, but that scene reminded me of a street in Vienna with the same archway building over it.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! Rosie looks like YOU! xoPom Pom
