The girls were fantastic on Saturday evening, helping to decorate the tree. Bob erected the tree whilst we sorted everything on the coffee table, into groups: round, wooden, soft, china, big, tiny, bells, angels etc. Rosie stood on the sofa, I stood on the stool, and Jess handed us items to hang. Then Bob put the angel on top. We have three new decorations this year: The tiny bead angel I made at craft group, a keyring which Ro and Liz bought back from Copenhagen in the spring, and a red plastic star.
I think I may change the gilt chain on the Little Mermaid for some pretty ribbon.
The star is just a red plastic one about 4cm across. It came from Wastesmiths in Great Yarmouth. It is made from recycled plastic. Do check out their website. I was very impressed with their team I when met them in October. We cannot realistically expect to live in a world without plastic- but we can do our best to deal with it responsibly. Rosie told me on Saturday that only 10% of plastic which could be recycled is recycled. She also asked me to explain why I have a plastic Christmas tree, and not a real one! We do have a couple of real trees [OK, shrubs] outside the front door. We've decorated them with red "berry" lights. [Saved from the staircase garland - which went to a CS when we moved to a bungalow]

We put up our Christmas tree and decorated it on Sunday, a bit sooner than usual because my OH was simply bursting to get on with it! It certainly cheers the place up on cold miserable evenings. We love a tree that’s absolutely smothered in lights and decorations - yours looks perfect!
No Christmas tree here, but I collect a vase of greenery on my walks round the lanes in Advent. I made the Christmas pomander with an orange and old cloves yesterday which is filling the kitchen with scent as it dries on an old plate on the radiator.
I have no fixed time to put up the tree (or in our case for the last few years, bring it in from the garden (planted it in a pot. It's grown a lot over the last 4 years!). Your tree looks marvellous!
Ours was £10 from Wilko in a small pot. It was a mini tree. Now it is a moderately sized one. Not sure what we will do when it out grows this pot though!
We don’t have a tree but I will decorate the branch in two weeks time if it has survived a year in the loft. It’s the Craft Group this morning and we are making fabric baubles and water colour cards for the first time. Wish me luck! Catriona
Your tree looks lovely. We decorate our tree just a week before Christmas and put up lights outside our house at the same time. We have always done it like that. People round here are getting earlier and earlier putting up trees and lights, it rather makes it less wonderful for me. Regards Sue H
I usually put up our decorations on the second Sunday of Advent. Maybe the third Sunday this year. Never a Christmas Tree, sadly, because of the Cats. We don't trust them not to wreck it!!

I think a tree does not have to be 'perfect' - just decorated with love. Having the children with me was so special - took me back to the years when their Mum and her sister were little children, and helped...
I have literally just been putting little lights on the two little trees in the planters outside my front door. They look lovely Inside the house my artificial tree is just up once again decorated with it's little china cups and 'special memory' ornaments.
I used to be very conflicted... I wanted to put the tree up later, but when I was doing a lot of piano teaching at home it was nice to get it up early and hand out chocolates, especially if I did an informal Christmas piano party where everyone was encouraged to play a carol (they always managed it at some stage in the party!)
I used to LOVE my piano teacher 's (also my Godmother) Christmas party! It was the best! Also used to spend Christmas day evening at hers and I haven't done this for at least 14 years now but I STILL miss it!
Some Christmas memories are lovely. I miss the annual family visit to my aunt in the week after Christmas [but this year, her grandson is coming to us]
Next Monday when the girls will be here to help! The eldest has just sent off her Uni application so I'm cherishing all of these precious moments of together time very keenly.
We've always decorated our tree the 2nd weekend of December, but I have put a small straw reindeer in the outside pot and my Christmas doormat down and I've written all my cards. I did ask Iris if she wanted to come and help with the tree, but I got a no thanks Granny, I've already helped with three. One in her bedroom, one in lounge, one in the conservatory. Xx
Our tradition is to find a tree on our woodlot or the acreage surrounding our house, but I haven't noticed any around the house this year. For the last two years we had a couple earmarked and even pruned one beforehand in spring. One year when our son was little, DH brought in a "Charlie Brown" tree as a joke and DS and I decided to go ahead and decorate it anyway. Trees don't have to be perfect.
We put our tree up yesterday but it is still to be decorated. We do have some sparkly lights and a couple of garlands over our French doors though. Your tree is looking very festive.
