All Ads Up

We are into November, Hallowe'en is over [Hallelujah!] and now the Christmas ads are appearing thick and fast. Some better than others
Waitrose is bringing out a series of ads, entitled Sweet Suspicion. prepared by Saatchi and Saatchi, with a star studded cast led by Matthew McFadyen. I'm reserving judgement till the denouement!. I'm not that keen on the M&S clothing one. Many ads feature animated characters [Asda's Gnome of Christmas, Sainsbury's BFG, Aldi's Keven the Carrot etc] I do not expect any Barbour garments in my stocking, but their ad, starring Shaun the sheep is good fun

You may or may not like Amazon, but their ad reminds us that a loving gift given thoughtfully can bring so much extra blessing. [John Lewis would probably say knowingly]
And Lidl remind us that if we are blessed, we should share the Christmas blessings with those less fortunate.
Do you have a favourite ad this year?

  1. I don't think I have seen any ads except the Amazon one and I rolled my eyes since they have ruined so many small businesses.
I still re member the John Lewis one with the fox on the trampoline! Kx

    1. I loved the John Lewis one where the little boy was so impatient to give his gift

  2. I like all the ones you've shown here - although I'm not sure about the narration on the Lidl one. It sounds like it's trying to be a poem that scans and rhymes but doesn't quite get there! Mr FD and I enjoy the ridiculously OTT perfume ads - saying, as a half naked demi-god shoots flaming arrows into the sunset (or whatever), "I think this one is my perfume" Love FD xx

  4. Most of the ads I've seen recently have been political ads, although I expect to see some Thanksgiving ones soon, to be followed by the Christmas ones.

  6. I love the Shaun the Sheep offering, it was literally the first Christmas ad that I've watched this year, so thank you. Christmas ads are the only sort I ever watch, I whizz past all the others. I'm just a big softy when it comes to all the caring and sharing encouragement.

  7. I'm disappointed. They are all food centred, of course. Nothing compares to the Hare one that John Lewis did a few years ago.

  9. I don't have a favourite. Although I remember my father’s friends saying the JLewis man in the moon looked exactly like him!

  10. We don't subscribe to TV, so we don't get plagued with commercials over here, except on the odd Youtube. I enjoyed seeing - just once - the ones you shared from the UK, especially the one with the sheep. I might be tempted to watch it again!
