This Is Just
To Say
the plums
that were in
the icebox
you were
probably
saving
for
breakfast
they were
delicious
so sweet
and so cold
[William Carlos Williams]
My friend Anne gave me some plums fromt he tree in her garden [Thanks Anne] Liz reminded me of this WCW poem, which I typed out and stuck on the fridge when the girls were tiny. [note 'typed' - it was a long time ago!]
After a hard day of work outside, I slung my red overalls in the machine- unfortunately Bobs tee shirt and sports socks were in their too.
The pink colour is very even - and he says he is still OK wearing them [Thanks Bob]
Oh No!!! This happened to my Stepdad's trainers too. They turned exactly the same shade of pink!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm....i wish out plum tree had fruits (or indeed done ANYTHING except be a sad twig!)
Does it need pruning back? [I have no idea really, it just seems to be what other gardeners sayin relation to fruit trees!!]
DeleteThey look like Victoria plums to me....the finest and most delicious!
ReplyDeleteThey are Victoria's - definitely the Queen of the plum family
DeleteI once put twelve beautifully white shirts and blouses in the washing machine, and an hour later, opened the door and removed twelve delicate pink shirts and blouses, and one bright red bandana which our son had popped in there without telling me!
ReplyDeleteThe pink blouses were worn, but the shirts were beyond saving, and the cash for five new school shirts was removed from son's bank account!
Oh how upsetting! I'm sure he ever made that mistake again
DeleteLovely plums, and yes it's a long, long time since I last typed anything as well.
ReplyDeleteHave you heard Tom Hanks enthusing about typewriters? He has a vast collection of them!
DeleteI don't know why I threw a coloured beach towel in with the white ones, a few months ago, but they, too, came out a lovely delicate pink. They are starting to fade nearer to white now.
