The national motto of Brazil, emblazoned across their flag is "Ordem y Progresso" which means "Order and Progress" which is my motto for this week, I think.
As well as the burgeoning fig tree, there are other good signs in the garden. 3 rose bushes currently without blooms, but the Absolutely Fabulous is living up to its name. That has been there 10 years
In one corner of my little raised bed, the strawberry plant has survived the winter and has flowers - there may be fruit later πππ
And my alliums, bought in RHS Bridgwater in Manchester in 2023 have bloomed - but they are only half the size of the previous year's flowerheads. Things are coming up in the main raised bed, the tomato plants in the mini greenhouse are thriving, and the potatoes are producing foliage.
So all that is definitely progress. As for order - well. we are getting there slowly. Since Bob and Julian took our DIY waste to the tip, the remaining wood on the patio has been reorganised in the workshop. The tidier boxes in the back bedroom make sorting things out a little easier - and by Friday I should be loading my wall cupboards in an orderly fashion.
I have been able to get out my sewing machine and have a day working on a birthday present, for a special little girl, and that has been lovely. And my knee is no longer painful, nor is it the size of a football - I can wear my jeans again! I have had my Shingles Jab too. Much to be grateful for.
That is a lot of progress!
ReplyDeleteSuddenly everything starts to fall into place...
DeleteGlad to hear of progress on many fronts. I'm excited about the upcoming strawberry season. We have lots of plants in the bed and they have flowers on! Also hoping got raspberries as we replaced the ones that died off last year. The blackcurrant is also flowering! I'm looking forward to the grand kitchen tour!
ReplyDeleteOh so much soft fruit at your place. πππWe have rhubarb, and little pears are appearing on the tree.πππ The chard has "bolted" and probably ought to be hoicked out to make space for salad leaves and more radishes π₯π₯π₯
DeleteSo pleased about your knee improving. The kitchen is progressing well how great. Here in East Sussex by the sea our roses have been out for 5 weeks and not one green fly. It is really lush and romping away in the garden. As you say much to be grateful for. Regards Sue H
ReplyDelete"Lush and Romping" sounds like a form of upmarket party planners

DeleteGreat progress on all fronts. Can't wait for kitchen reveal! Progress here on the new mattress front (think 30 years later, I'm due a new one!). Toddled off (i.e. Very long drive!) to The Big Blue and Yellow aircraft hangar and finally decided on the mattress for me. Rather than do what my friend did when she bought hers -bought rolled up mattress, struggled with trying to get it into her Fiat 500 then up into her first floor flat via the lift, all by herself, I paid the delivery charge for mine and mattress arriving on Saturday!I had an attempt at lifting a rolled up mattress in store but just couldn't envisage not doing myself and car a mischief! Also, if you had a Family Card and spent over £50 you were entitled to £10 off. However, for some reason, didn't apply to mattresses!
ReplyDeleteYes deffo a new one. We are very pleased with our Swedish mattresses. And sometimes paying delivery is worth it, let someone else take the strain. I always worry the mattress will somehow escape its bonds and "inflate"itself inside the vehicle like a mammoth airbag, and suffocate the driver,!!
DeleteI'm glad you were able to get the correct tiles. I'm thankful your knee is doing better too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Terri. I hope things are gradually getting back on an even keel for you after the family issues of recent months, and that summer is blessed with sunshine and joy. My go-to hymn at the moment is "in heavenly love abiding". May that be your experience too ❤️❤️ππ
DeleteThank you, Angela! May and June are very busy, but I'm looking forward to July and August when vacation is coming up. Need some time to just relax!

DeleteGood to read that everything is progressing.
ReplyDeleteBe lovely to have the kitchen back to order. Shame about the tiles but good that Bob was able to take them back to B and Q to change them for the correct ones. Happy days.
A minor glitch !
DeleteYou are almost there with your kitchen makeover. Looking forward to the photos. Your allium flowers might be smaller for several reasons, not enough sunlight/water or they are overcrowded and need splitting up. Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Gill. I suspect it is the watering - it has been very sunny, but so dry, and I have been so caught up with other things that although I watered the raised bed and the tomatoes, I completely overlooked the row of pots at the front [geraniums, peony and alliums] and I think they have all suffered π’
DeleteThank you for the Robin Stevens book suggestion, I told Iris about them, so we had a look and have ordered one from Abe books. Xx
DeleteI hope she enjoys them as Rosie does
DeleteI hate having workmen in the house, can't stand mess but it sounds as though you have a gem there in the tiler chap. It sounds like lots of stuff is getting done and the end is in sight now :)
ReplyDeleteStrangely, our Alliums have come up at half the size they were before too. Puzzling....
The rest of your plants are looking really good :)

He really has been a gem. See Gill's helpful suggestions πΌabove about the alliumsπΌ
DeletePS Forgot to say that I'm glad your knee is healing, Ange....
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteGlad to hear about your knee, and also splendid progress on kitchen. Both are great news!
ReplyDelete☺️
DeleteSounds like everything is progressing well with the kitchen renovations and order will soon follow as you organize your new kitchen. Happy to hear that your knee is better, too. And your garden seems to be coming along nicely, even if the alliums are half sized.
ReplyDeleteKitchen pictures next week I hope
DeleteThat is good to hear that your knee is much better. I like that your tiler is being super careful of his surroundings as he works.
ReplyDeleteA really good craftsman
DeleteLooks like you had a really good week and I am very pleased to hear that you knee has improved enough to be able to put your jeans on again. π
ReplyDeleteYour tiler, Sean sounds like he is doing an excellent job and progress is being made. The finishing line is in sight.
We are there !!!
