The family all arrived around 11am for coffee. The four cousins were delighted to be together. Jess spotted the sun coming through the front door glass, making rainbow spots on the runner in the hall, and called the others to see. They had a lot of fun looking at the pretty spots, and tracing the rainbows with their little starfish fingers - then they all went off to the coast for a picnic and a paddle.
Bob suggested we had a little run out in the car, so we went to the pop-up craft shops at Dalegate Market. He bought a hat! [I have yet to take pictures] The Café was closed, so we picked up sandwiches in the "garage shop" - which is a bit posher than average. Very upmarket yogurt, I must say!
"Nomadic" yogurt comes in an intriguing split pot. The top contains granola and a wooden spoon, the bottom, foil-covered section contains runny yogurt. You open and combine. Packaging is 100% recyclable. There's a splendid new mural at the Market! We came home, and I went round the village taking down the Sale signs.
I called on the vicar, who was very pleased with her sale takings!
All in all, a lovely day.
I hope your Monday was just as much fun.
Sounds like a lovely day. I stayed home and rested on Monday.
ReplyDeleteWas it also a public holiday in the USA? Ours are often on different days from yours
DeleteLove the children spotting the rainbows. Sounds like a great day. We had a wonderful walk to a lake, spotting lots of wildfowl, very breezy and came home wind blown and tired, ready for a cup of tea. Regards Sue H
ReplyDeleteAlways need a reviving cuppa when you get home ☕
DeleteIt only seems a year or two ago that you were welcoming your vicar and discovering a shared love of embroidery! Northumberland is quite a change from Norfolk.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely Bank Holiday Monday.
Yes, April 2023. It has been quite a short ministry here. But she has strong links up north and was looking to return there. I'll miss her
DeleteIt does sound like a good day. I like that mural. 😃
ReplyDeleteIt was the Children's Festival and Parade in our town, seemingly it's the renamed Whit Walks that we used to take part in as children. Happily the rain held off for the morning procession but the evening one had to be cancelled. It was nice watching the crowning of this years town Queen and seeing all the work that had gone into the Children's costumes and the floats.
Whit Walks and carnivals used to be so common, I am glad yours still continues in a different form. As a child I remember wishing I could go on the float in a pretty dress and accompany the Carnival Queen
DeleteMy Monday was spent in a car to Northumberland (where is Rachael going?) and packing before that. I wrote a couple of poems and read a book of Essex Folk Tales on the way (& had an incident with a large bottle of orange juice!
ReplyDeleteRev R is going to Amble. It's a long way!!
DeleteI share the little ones' delight in the rainbow spots. I have a small ornament on a windowsill, and at certain times when it is sunny, I get the most gorgeous rainbow patch on the floor or wall. It never fails to thrill me.
ReplyDeleteA simple sunny joy
DeleteWhat a lovely weekend and the yoghurt pot looks like something I would enjoy. Catriona
ReplyDeleteVery tasty - but something to savour, not wolf down quickly as part of a hurried lunchbreak!
DeleteWhat a lovely and simple pleasure for the children to enjoy seeing the rainbows in the glass.
