I really could have done without the announcer on Classic FM mentioning that yesterday afternoon. There are many tasks I would like to complete before I begin thinking about Yuletide. I shall have to sit down and make a proper list.
- I plan to enjoy and Autumn, the changing colours of the season
- I hope to do my summer/winter wardrobe sort
- I intend to have a short holiday soon [one without trips to A&E]
- I want to make another batch of Shed Aprons
- I need to prepare some good meal plans for colder weather
- I must get regular exercise and be diligent about weight loss
One thing I rejoice in every year since I gave up teaching is dodging the school Christmas production! The show itself was always great fun; just the previous months working towards it were exhausting. One year I was working in a music teaching capacity in ten schools... admittedly I was only (!) involved in about 6 shows...
ReplyDeleteChristmas productions cause so much angst!
DeleteThat's a lot! At least I'm only involved in 3 at my school. I don't have to help with FS production. Also not thinking about Christmas. X

DeleteThe shops are filling up with Christmas things already. I have too many birthdays to sort in October and November first
ReplyDeleteWe have some October & November birthdays too [Inc Bob's 70th]
DeleteHaving to think about Christmas activities for my craft group is causing me some angst at the moment. My brain just doesn’t want to go there. Our u3a is 15 years old today and it will be no surprise to you that I am off to the hall at 11 30am to set up the tables for a 2pm start. People will start arriving about 1 15 so that they can sit in their cliques without a thought as to how all the work was done! At least it’s dry so we should get everything into the hall without mishap. Catriona
ReplyDeleteI met a Cub Scout leader recently who is busily collecting GU pudding jars for various Christmas Crafting stuff. Pincushions, tealight holders etc.
ReplyDeleteI don't think about Xmas until I've had the car serviced/MOT'd and bought insurance for the next 12 months. October is an expensive month.
ReplyDeleteSome months seem to have all the bills at once
DeleteI agree far too soon to think about Christmas. It is only mid September after all. I liked being in school in December but have to admit the work up to it was so frenetic I don't miss it at all! Regards Sue H
ReplyDeleteAs a Supply Teacher, I used to get most calls for work in Jan/Feb because so many teachers got burned out in the Christmas Term.
DeleteI am not doing anything to even start preparing for Christmas yet. The bloggers that are already starting are getting slightly carried away if you ask me, and I will not be persuaded to join in. Yes, there are mince pies and Quality Street in the supermarkets, but there are also Hot Cross Buns still available to buy.
ReplyDeleteLet's just enjoy Autumn and it's glorious colours and changeable weather.
Yes, let's do that
DeleteI usually get quite grumpy about Christmas being rammed down our throats too early 😉 But this year I've decided things won't change in that regard so just taking a deep breath and going with it 😄
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
Can I get grumpy about Halloween?
DeleteYes!
DeleteYes - Halloween grumps allowed 😉😂😘
DeleteAlison x
I'm body swerving all things Halloween and in particular, Christmas!

DeleteI'm afraid I have done the clothes swapover already, but in my defence, it was to have a look at the clothes I have with a view to not buying anything more
ReplyDeleteClothes swap is allowed anytime between August Bank holiday and October half term I think!
DeleteI was in the dollar store the other day and had to back track as they were putting out Christmas cards......now our temperatures are in the high 20's and the a/c is on. It doesn't even feel like Fall never mind Christmas!!!
ReplyDeleteIt has been wet and windy in the UK this week. But I wish the shops wouldn't push us into Xmas stuff so soon
DeleteWell, I'm trying my hardest to get started because I know I will enjoy December more and (especially spiritually) if I have less to do. The years when I have still be preparing in a rush late into December have been the years I have really not appreciated the season.
ReplyDeleteI find it a little easier in retirement - the school and church events are not so onerous
DeleteGood grief, I'm only just getting over the arrival of Hallowe'en rubbish in a local store, 2 or 3 weeks ago! I don't want to think about Christmas yet. I would love to live in some place where Christmas is preceded by a genuine Advent, a time of preparation of the heart as well as of the means for celebration, with all Christmas parties and concerts delayed until between Christmas and Epiphany, and less emphasis on getting stuff, and more on giving from the heart. (I think that was a rant!)
ReplyDeleteYes, have a rant! We do need to make more of Advent. Preparing our hearts as well as our homes for Christmas
DeleteI generally don't like to think about Christmas until after Thanksgiving, but, daughter painted some cardstock for me to use to make my Christmas cards, so, I should get the cards made soon.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a creative pair , lovely that you can work on these together ❤️👍
DeleteFourteen weeks is over three months…..way too soon to even think about it.
ReplyDeleteIn the days when we just spent holidays in France I was once asked by a French lady living in the UK to bring her some French Christmas cards back from an October visit. There were none to be found anywhere! Eventually I asked the owner of the Maison de la Presse in the village if she knew where I might get some and she said "come back this afternoon", by which time she had fetched a cardboard box of unsolds from previous years out of the attic!
