My Dad used to have a poster like this. A reminder that we cannot pick and choose our neighbours- but we are still called to care for them.
We've had quite a few new people move into the Close in the past year - none of them is a trombone player, as far as I can tell.

But we are blessed to have some very pleasant people around us.
I was busying planting beans, when a lady walked round the corner, with her dog. "Are you Angela?" she asked. I said I was - and she said she wanted to say thankyou - her daughter is one of the newer residents, and she just wanted to thank me for making her girl feel welcome, and helping out [in a very minor way] when she needed assistance. I thought that was very kind.
I have been learning even more about Sewing Machine Maintenance from the guy next door - he helped me to fix a machine for a teenage friend last week
Another gentleman spoke to me as I was pulling out the wheelie bin - to say thank you for the Yard Sale which Bob [and his Shedmates] are organising next Saturday. He is hoping to have a few bits outside his garage.
When I was putting out the yard sale flyers [with help from Jess and Rosie] I asked a guy round the corner if he'd be interested in taking part. He wasn't sure. I said I'd been really pleased with the plants I had brought from him at a previous Yard Sale. He turned up this week with a tray of 7 plants for me [Cucumber, courgette and tomato]
"How much do I owe you?" I asked. "Nothing, just return the pots and trays" - what a lovely chap!

Nice neighbours are really priceless.
ReplyDeleteThey are an asset to the community
DeleteGood neighbours are a blessing indeed. We have wonderful neighbours here where we live. They are thoughtful, kind, sharing and caring. Your neighbours sound the same, and in turn Ang I know you and Bob are good neighbours too. Regards Sue H
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have good neighbours too
DeleteYou are working miracles in the Close...

DeleteThat’s such a lovely gift to receive from a near neighbour and something to look forward to nurturing to provide homegrown food. You have good neighbours and I always think living in a cul de sac is more neighbourly. We moved 38 years ago to what has become a very busy main road and have little interaction with our neighbours unless they are looking to borrow tools from Norrie/take in parcels. Lovely sunny day and I’m going to enjoy some time outside in the garden. Catriona
ReplyDeleteI enjoy being in a close, although I know it's not to everyone's liking
DeleteThis reminds us that there are still a lot of good and kind folk around. TQ
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
And this week,we need good and positive news!!!
DeleteWhat a lovely gesture to make and you will have food from his gift. I've gifted mint plants today. On our small estate we have a Buddy Group and a Ladies Group, so I put the plants up, said they'd be by the front door, what number and within the hour they had all gone. We left lovely neighbours but have some great ones here. Xx
ReplyDeleteWe have had good neighbours in most of the places we have live, and I am grateful
DeleteWhat a lovely chap indeed, and a good neighbour ... they are so precious aren't they.
ReplyDeleteAt Mum's care home a lady that plays the cello has moved into the room across the hallway from her, and my brother said she was practising all through his visit to Mum on Saturday morning, and playing at an orchestral level. I was chatting to her this morning and seemingly she has just had a shoulder replacement and is only just getting back to her cello.
I hope it doesn't disturb your Mum too much. She may not be aware how the sound travels. It is probably good exercise for her, but...Let's hope there is an amicable resolution to this one
DeleteShe did close her door seemingly, but a cello is a loud instrument, we just joked that at least she was a drummer. :-)
DeleteMum didn't remember it the minute she stopped playing so there's no problem.
That is a small blessing 🎼🎵🎶
DeleteGood neighbors are a blessing, aren't they? I don't have any trombone playing neighbors, just ones that have outdoor parties with live bands and amplifiers which make my house shake until way past 2:00 a.m.! But, I do have some kind neighbors who help me with household repairs and others who share delicious food with me. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope the good outweighs the bad 💚
DeleteIt sounds like you have a lovely neighbourhood where you all bless each other in different ways.
ReplyDeleteIt has been good to come back and visit after my break and catch up on all your news. God bless you for your prayers and encouragement.
