Time for our annual Churches Together Christian Aid Tea Party. Dozens of people turned up…
Martin Gage, the local Christian Aid rep was there [with his display duck!] – he is coming back again on Sunday night, to take the United Service at the Parish Church.
And we had plenty of cakes
Folk from all the different churches in our community worked together, and it was a great atmosphere. We had every age- from babies in buggies to OAPs. The Scouts came down at the end to help stack chairs and fold tables. [thanks, lads] Special thanks to Mary and Sue for planning and organising the whole event.
Do you like the fancy cake slice? It is actually the silver and ivory trowel from the day they laid the foundation stone for the Sunday School [that is the Hall in which we had the tea] the inscription says

It has been kept safe in a cupboard for years – and I thought it was time it actually got used for something. Bob polished it up with metal polish, and all afternoon it was pressed into service for dispensing slices of spongecake.
“It looks like it has come from Downton Abbey” said one of the ladies.
Maybe I should have worn a tiara to the tea party!

ReplyDeleteSo lovely. Wish strawberries had been there! Were there mad boys racing up and down the corridor creating a haunted house in the Youth Room? That's what they spent the evening doing at our youth leaders' dinner!!
