Happy Days

The Manchester family arrived Saturday evening, and the boys were thrilled to be with their Grandad.

They were delighted with the Christmas presents we had given them, and we all had fun assembling train tracks and learning dinosaur facts.

On Sunday afternoon, the others got back from visiting their other grandparents.

More gift swapping. Jess was excited about with her unicorn dressing gown and did much posing in front of the bedroom mirror.

Once Jess returned to the lounge, Rosie [in her new DG] entertained us all with magic tricks - calling herself The Great Rosita and wearing a fabulous false moustache. She had received a Magic Set last week and has been diligently practising the tricks, and the patter. It was indeed a great show!

We feel very blessed to have these four with us [even if we collapse exhausted with a cup of tea at the end of the day!] I hope your family festivities have been fun too

  1. How lovely! It reminds me of the family Christmases I loved when I was a child. One year all of us grandchildren were given snuggly red Ladybird (remember that brand?) dressing gowns.

  3. What a wonderful picture of Grandad and Grandsons. Did smile at Jess posing in her dressing gown.
We were blessed to see all of our seven Grandchildren over the Christmas period. What made me smile the most is seeing cousins Fearne and Orlagh togeher, at 5 & 6 they really are good friends and so excited to see each other.

    1. If I had seven grandchildren they'd have to visit in relay... Just four of them exhaust me. But I am thrilled yours get on well, cousins have a special bond

  4. It looks like you had a lovely family time as we did. Our guests have now gone home and we can get back to normality. Most treats are finished, we had home made veggie soup yesterday bliss after some indulgences. It has been a wonderful family Christmas. Regards Sue H

  5. Dressing gowns featured heavily in my childhood-as you say no central heating and mine was usually Ladybird brand. It’s lovely that the four cousins were together again and enjoying each others company. Super photos too and it’s great that the boys are still young enough to enjoy a cuddle with grandad all in the one chair. Fingers crossed we are having lunch guests at 1pm but there is a weather warning for wind and rain so it could be cancelled. Thank goodness we have a large freezer. Catriona

  7. First Christmas alone (sons were dutifully attending at their respective in-laws). Invitations were extended but would have meant travelling and I just couldn't be bothered, the month has been very busy! Felt odd cooking a small turkey, the remainder of which I offloaded to my brother-in-law yesterday, couldn't suffer another morsel! Making soup with the stock today. My friend said to me yesterday, don't make a habit of being on your own at Christmas but it is what it is for me!Loving all your family pics. (And yes, I did get a touch of FOMO when I saw the mothers'--in-law family pics on Insta!).

    1. I'm sure there will be times ahead when such get togethers prove impossible for me. We take it as it comes, and make the best of EVERY day, don't we?

  10. I'd like to see the Great Rosita perform!
I love a dressing gown. I actually have 5 of them - all different and useful in different ways. All, except 2, a gift.
    1. BAMBOO towelling maxi gown - good for after a bath if slightly damp. Gift from Mum about 15year aho
    2. Bamboo patterned soft one good for wearing over pj's when doing stuff around the house. Mum bought for herself with matching pj's which didn't fit so gave me whole lot. I love them. Gift about 13years ago
    3. Fleecey shirt pj jacket - good for warmth over pj's in bed and for wearing when doing teeth. Gift from sis about 14 years ago.
    4. Vintage Japanese kimono-gift from Norma in 1992.
    5. Ivory silk, paisley full length kimono. Bought for £2 at North Dean fete in 2010 when I forgot to take my dressing gown to camp for shower dash. Brilliant as it ended up being my 'bridal photos' dressing gown when my hair and make up were being done
I like wearing this in the hot summer!

    1. I have a soft, warm winter one from cotton traders. Ten years old. And a cool cotton summer kimono made a couple of years back from. a 1979 wedding present duvet cover. I'd love a cotton towelling one, with a hood , but not white.

  12. The dressing gowns are obviously a hit. So cute to see Rosie doing her magic tricks. It reminded me of a short video we saw of DGD around a similar age, doing a magic trick at school. It went slightly wrong, but that added to the charm and didn't phase her in the least.
