If Tomorrow Is Yet Another Bank Holiday...

Tomorrow is the day for all those new diaries and calendars to be started. I was very tempted by this one on sale in Aldi, a meal planner might be useful - but I decided it was unnecessary.

Then I saw the one in the adjacent display. I am really disconcerted by the name they have chosen for it!

In years gone by I had a "Family Organiser" which never lived up to its name, but a "Family Planning Calendar" sounds rather intrusive...

  2. Oh my word! Actually, that's one of the bonuses of empty nests when offspring fly away; planning became so much easier!

    1. I thought retirement would mean fewer appointments in the calendar. I was wrong!

    1. Oh that would be so good. Perhaps we should meet halfway (altho that means neither chap gets to show off their shed)

  6. In earlier times, family planning was probably planning for children :-)) and how lovely when they were still small :-)) Now the eldest grandchild is already doing his A-levels...

  10. I agree! I finally did break down and buy a proper planner this year because now that we have reached the age of Copius Amounts of Doctor Appointments I need to rely on something other than my memory. Trying to make it fun — but it’s not. Mine doesn’t have a name — like Family Planning! Perhaps I should think one up. Have a wonderful New Year Angela!

  11. I woke up to the sound of the garbage truck stopping at the end of our driveway and I gave thanks! I hadn't put it out the week before as there was a chance it might be buried in snow overnight, so after Christmas there was just too much for one bin. I found we had a small bin with a lid that could be clamped (raccoons, dogs, etc) and another bag went in there, with the inviting remains of the boiled turkey carcase, among other attractive and smelly goodies.

    1. The bin boew over at neighbours house - 6 properties away and the contents were spread as ll round the close (I knew it was her bin, as my garden contained envelopes from her Xmas cards 😂)

  12. I was given a tiny handbag - sized diary for Christmas last year and I really made use of it, rather than my phone - I made notes, wrote poems on trains and so I bought a similar one in theWaterstones sale with mushrooms on. Am very pleased with it!

  13. I love Paperblanks diaries but won't pay full price. They arrive in Noz (discount store) near the end of January so I'm using 2024's with added home made pages for now. If they don't arrive, I'll have to buy something different. Mr FD keeps trying to get me to put things on my phone ("It's so easy!") but generally I find it quicker, and more convenient to use my RL diary than fiddling through pressing buttons. Happy New Year to you all. Love FD xx
