Said Bob as we loaded Rosie and Jess into the car yesterday afternoon and headed off for chapel
He cooked well over 100 pancakes. Loads of families from the village came. My activities table was well receivedAll those children who coloured pictures, did word searches, made Mardi Gras Carnival crowns, or did Chinese New Year activities went home with a small bag of Haribos and a Chinese banknote for ¢500,000! Rosie and Jess were really friendly and helpful, welcoming visitors, explaining the Crafts and helping clear up. I was too busy to take pictures!
£50 was raised to help Ukraine. We were quite exhausted, but pleased how well it went.

Bet you're done in today!! Well done all.
ReplyDeleteExhausted!! I have been dozing for the last four hours on a train to Manchester. Knitting untouched in my bag!
DeleteCouple of rest days due!
DeleteEnjoying my family time
DeleteSimply wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYesterday afternoon I ran to my favorite bakery and bought pancakes; he makes the best ones around—no Carnival without pancakes!
Baking 100 pancakes is a great achievement. I've never tried making them myself, even though I love to cook and bake.
Sending you warm greetings.
Relax today!
I'm relaxing!!

ReplyDeleteThe journey was restful and it was lovely to be met by two excited grandsons with their Mum
DeleteThat sounds like a lot of good came from that. There was the money for Ukraine, but also the joy for the kids and the boost to community spirit. All respect to Bob - I'd lose my mind trying to cook 100 pancakes!
ReplyDeleteHis mind is still sharp but his legs were aching after all the standing
DeleteWell done! We used to volunteer serving pancakes at a Maple Syrup Festival in Illinois. It was a great fundraiser but we were given the pancake batter already made up and had a special device which dispensed enough batter for one pancake, so it was easy! JanF
ReplyDeleteBob always uses a favourite ladle for consistency
DeleteSounds like a lot of work to me! I'm exhausted on your behalf! I'd want to sit and sleep for a week afterwards, but, here you are, off to visit the Manchester family the next day! Have a lovely time with your grandsons. :)
ReplyDeleteThe boys are booked into a play scheme tomorrow so I can have a quiet day
DeleteThat is a lovely banner, and I like the idea of the Chinese banknotes!
