Back in the 70’s I adored watching Happy Days, I still have the vinyl LP of the theme music in the garage somewhere! The Fonz was so cool, in his leather jacket , riding his [British!] Triumph motorbike.
I wanted a boyfriend like that!
And now the actor, Henry Winkler, has grown into a respectable grey haired gentleman, and the Queen has just awarded him an honorary OBE in recognition of the star's services to children with dyslexia and special educational needs.
Henry has spent a number of years working with dyslexic children, including touring UK schools since 2008, and this honour is well deserved.
Cool guy, leather jacket, bike, guitar, loves children, helps the ones with problems – what’s not to like? I think he deserves this award.
The BBC report said
The Queen makes honorary awards to non-British citizens on the advice of the UK Foreign Office. It is not clear whether she is a fan of the Fonz
[I suspect she is- she probably has a DVD boxed set at Sandringham that she watches in the Christmas holidays]
oh what a difference a few years make! Good on the Fonz! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing this--I, too, have fond memories of watching Happy Days when I was a girl. It's nice that Henry Winkler has done so much for kids with dyslexia--I like it when celebrities use their fame for good. Wish more would.
