Last Tuesday I heard my phone ringing- but got to it too late – “Missed call, Liz” – so I rang her back straightaway
[me] Hi Liz, sorry I missed your call just now
[male voice] Hello?
[me] Who is that, please?
[male voice] I am on my way home from work, and a load of cyclists went past – then I saw this phone in the road. So I rang ‘Mum’
[me] Thank you so much – that’s my daughter’s phone. She’s in London but I am in Leicester.
[male voice] No worries – can you tell her to ring her phone and then I can arrange to get it back to her?
Thank you, kind person, for bothering to do that. God bless you, wherever you are.
What a decent man,the world would be a better place if more were like that

Awwwww I like these storys. I would have phoned "home" or "mum" if I had found it to. If I remember rightly there is a special name your supposed to put into your phone with a contact number so that if you were hit by a bus the emergancy services can work out your emergancy contact v.v quickly.

You are thinking of ICE - In Case of Emergency. Which reminds me, my ICE2 number is my brother's - and he moved house last year, so I really must change it!

ReplyDeleteMy phone's safely retrieved! I have always depended on the kindness of strangers....
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough I found a mobile phone in a car-park last month. I looked around and waited for someone to come back, but couldn't see anyone. I didn't want to leave it there in case someone less honest than me just took it, so I took it home, hoping the owner would eventually dial her number. She did and I was able to make arrangements to return it to her. She turned out to be a District Nurse who needed it for her patients and she was extremely grateful for my honesty. It was just nice to be able to help, I know how lost and sick I would feel if I lost mine.
ReplyDeleteGlad she got hers back.

Catherine and I have been talking loads recently about the kindness of strangers- principally because they hosted Max the Peace Day Pilgrim last month- you can find him on Google or facebook. Relying on the kindness of strangers. Very challenging stuff. What a great guy this was!
