Struggles, Stillness, And Strength

I know that quite a few of my friends are going through difficult times right now, and it is hard sometimes to keep going. Some of you send me 'offblog' private messages and emails. Be assured, you are remembered in prayer. One person referred to the comfort she had found in the words of Joshua 1: 9.
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Sometimes it is so important to just be still, to stop, and reflect.
To leave the stress and strivings for a moment and find a moment of peace.
It has been so hot for many of us recently - and I do not cope at all well with extreme heat. Another quote about stillness came to mind when I looked at this month's Painted BearCalendar. It is from George Fox, founder of the Quaker movement. Be still and cool!

  1. One thing I love about our collaborative projects is that I have to SIT STILL for a while and just sew...
Slow steady knitting and hand-sewing is a great antidote to rush and hurry.

  3. Just reading those words of George Fox makes me feel calmer. Life is often a struggle, but this can make us find an inner strength with God's love, and just taking time to be still and calm and listen to that inner voice. Praying for others helps me and makes my struggles seem less. Thank you Sue H

  4. I’m really exhausted by the heat and clammy weather. My joy is to walk but it’s way too hot for that. Just trying to stay cool and calm indoors. Catriona

    1. I am so sorry to read this Sue. Yes of course I will pray for you, and I'm sure others reading this will also pray. God knows the details, so you do not need to share them. May your spirit be lifted, and joy return soon. Read Isaiah 43v2,3, and know you are loved, and not alone ❤️🙏

  10. I really like the calendar words, Be still and "draw peace to your heart"! Of course the words "Be still" always remind me of the next ones, "and know that I am God". The words of George Fox remind me of how our priest, at the end of mass at this time of year, wishes us for the weekend and says "and stay cool in the Lord"!
Sue, I've prayed for you, Our Lord knows what you are grappling with right now and He hears all our prayers. Even if we might be far, far away from you, He is right beside you! ((Hugs))
