Make Your Mark [In A Good Way]

Thank you to Dave Walker for his brilliant cartoon. If there is an election in your area today.
Please Vote.
I'd quite forgotten the Marsh Family, the musical clan whose parodies kept many of us entertained during lockdown. But they have released a new song this week.
Please Vote Wisely

  1. I voted by post last week! Sadly not for the one I'd like to vote for, it's all tactical voting here... I almost feel like writing a letter of apology and explanation to my preferred candidates.
The cartoon and song are brilliant!

  2. Our postal vote went in a couple of weeks ago. Very quite this morning as all the local schools are having an inservice day. Many of the schools will be polling stations with the teachers using another part of
    The building. Catriona

    1. We use the village hall, the primary school carries on as normal. In Dorset they rented our church hall for elections.

  3. My late mother told me that I should always vote, even if it's just to spoil a ballot, because people died to get us the vote and we should respect that.

    1. I agree, the right to vote was hard one by brave people. As a Nonconformist Female, I am very aware that it was denied to my family in previous centuries

  4. Yes I had forgotten this wonderful family. Very good song. Oh dear I think Kirsten is right, tactical voting. Hope we don't all come unstuck. We always vote in this house, so many places in the world who cannot vote freely. Regards Sue H

  5. Lyssa, that's what I told my children, that people died to get us the vote. So my children all vote, they claim they are too scared not to, in case I find out!

  7. My Mum said I should always vote as women died for me to get that right. Unfortunately we don't have any elections in this area today, but we will see what has happened in other parts of the UK. I think Sur Keir is going to get a nasty shock. Xx

    1. It is local elections and therefore about the direction of local government, so people may not necessarily vote for their regular party. I suspect there will be a lot of tactical voting. I am quite concerned for the future of my bit of Norfolk...

  9. No local elections here today. I used to be a poll clerk, but I have no idea why ours are always different. I always vote, except for the elections for the local Police and Crime Commissioner. I intentionally spoilt my ballot paper on the first election we had for that post saying exactly why I thought it was a waste of time, money and a misuse of the democratic process. I think I may have been menopausal at the time!

  11. Our mid-term elections are coming up in June. I've just received my ballot in the mail and will be voting for as long as I am allowed to do so (lots of discussions going on, these days, about who is/will be allowed to vote).
