Atheists and Buses

atheist bus

I was amused by this picture

christianity today bus

and also by this cartoon from Christianity Today

  1. The cartoon made me laugh. But I'm not sure I get the bus. Is that really a message from the bus company, or an advertisement that's going completely over my head?

  2. Frances- There was an ad campaign in London recently, paid for by the Atheist Society, to have the slogan on buses "There's probably no god, now stop worrying and enjoy your life"
I think that many people felt it was a waste of money - and many Christians felt it was an opportunity to talk positively about God and faith. I cannot see this happening in the US!

  3. Lol!

The probably got me. What about the possibly? If I was an atheist or agnostic the advert would make me worry more than comfort me! If someone said to you during a disaster, "You're probably not going to die," you'd be always thinking about the possibly.
