In church on Remembrance Sunday, we made paper poppies and wrote prayers on the back. We cannot quite manage the Tower of London transformation
But we do have Kirby Muxloe Castle –
On Saturday, I painted a large picture of the Castle …
…and on Sunday morning we created our own poppy field
It was very moving to see nearly 100 people queuing up quietly and reflectively, waiting to place their poppy prayers around our Castle.
After the service, we joined with our friends from St Bartholomew’s, and other members of our community, and at midday, there were around 250 people marking the silence at our Village War Memorial. Thank you to Tom the Rector for leading this, and Rachel and Samuel for playing Last Post and Reveille.[That’s me with my Serious Face on!]
What a lovely idea. Your poppy castle looks super.
