Wreathed In Smiles

Here are my friends at the fortnightly Craft Group. We had a wreath making session yesterday. Janet brought pre-prepared willow hoops for us all, and we made a diverse selection of decorations. Everyone contributed something - red dogwood, different evergreens, pearlescent honesty [mine] berries, cones, conkers, allium heads, ribbons... And clever Viv had made a needle felted robin for everybody. A real collaborative effort

It was a lovely morning and everyone was happy with their achievements. It was a real tweet!
Do you make a wreath? Or buy one

Here's mine!

    1. It was such fun - and all the contributed materials gave us choice about what to use

  2. We bought one a living one a couple of years ago but we do have a couple of bought ones- I like them a lot! CBC bought a lovely felt one on Saturday! Mum did make me a willow hoop so I could make one too. Yours look really attractive!

    2. There are some superb felt ones around, well done CBC. Having the willow hoop to start with makes a huge difference

  3. Your looks lovely. I make my own usually, and this year am joining a friend for a morning of wreath making.

    1. Doing it with a friend is good - helpful suggestions and positive criticism results in a better finished product imho

  4. Those are beautiful! I have a fake wreathe I use each year. I've tried my hand at making my own and I am never happy with how they turn out for me.

    1. Doing them on my own, I have never been happy - this year it was so much better, working with others. Plus we could all contribute ideas AND materials to give everybody the chance of a lovely wreath to take home

  5. Beautiful wreath... it's really fun, especially when you can make it in a nice community.
I rarely make a door wreath... it looks very nice... I should do it more often :-)))
I make my own Advent wreath every year. It is made from fir greens, has decorations, four candles and is placed on the coffee table. The first candle is lit on the first Advent.

    1. We always have an advent wreath at church. I've not had one at home for years. Maybe I'll make one this year

  6. I have a rather tacky plastic one which goes on my gate. I try to tart it up a bit though. We had one stolen so I'm loathe to spend too much on it. Love FD xx

    1. It's frustrating when people help themselves like that

  9. What a timely and delightful project for your group to do together! Love the various wreaths, too. I use the dame wreath every year but collect greenery from the evergreens in the yard for vases,
    Your wreath is lovely!

    Hugs!

  10. Lovely wreath. I have one I bought from M and s donkeys years ago. It has berries and is looking okay still, if a little tired.
I really love the robin that someone made, he is a cheery little chap.

  13. Super wreath, love the red hips. Had a day out last year making wreaths with my daughter, followed by an all included pub lunch, not sure if we are doing the same this year.

  14. Oh now I feel lazy! In my defence it’s been pretty hectic around here lately and when I saw a nice bright red berry wreath at our Target store I bought it as my 20 year old one was molting last year! Christmas decor is very beautiful but VERY pricey at lovely gift shops.I do like yours and the robin

    1. I think it makes sense to replace a tatty twenty year old wreath with a bright berry one. I do agree that it all seems very pricey

  15. Last and only time I did felting, I punctured my thumb quite badly! All the wreaths look great. I made a fabric one last year for myself and crocheted a pom pom wreath for my sister. Wreath workshops here are financially prohibitive. I'm not sure why they have to charge so much!

    1. I'm sure I'd bleed all over the wool if I attempted felting. Most workshops here seem to cost between £35 & £65. We just paid our regular £2 fee, and contributed what materials we could . That suited me perfectly!

  16. DH detests wreaths so we have a swag instead. Funny story, when DS was little, his pal showed up with a dreadful wreath made out of black garbage bags and announced that he was going to help him make one just like it! Well, those lads had a great time and it was a blessing to see how the friend wanted to share his joy!
