After 30 years, he can still surprise me!

I was working away on my Sunday school stuff, when I heard Bob come upstairs and start shaving. Then he stuck his head round the door and said "Just off out". Now as he has not left the house since Tuesday [apart from a brief trip to the Doctors, and another to arrange a funeral] I was a little concerned."Where to?" "Oh, just to sort something out in the village" And he went.

I pondered for a little while on this. Bob is usually quite open about where he is going. Was there some important, but confidential pastoral matter needing his attention? I trust him, so I just got on with wrapping the Pass the Parcel.

IM003088 Twenty minutes later, the doorbell rang - so I opened it, and there he was, grinning all over his face. He had a huge bouquet for me, as a thank-you for my support in the past week.

Bob doesn't often buy me flowers, so I was utterly overwhelmed, and temporarily speechless. [briefly - I don't do speechlessness for long!!]

Isn't he gorgeous?

He even asked the florist for red/green colours to fit in with all my Christmas stuff.

I am so glad he is feeling a bit better, and hope that he continues to recover so he is 100% fit for tomorrow and the other remaining Christmas events.

Ah well - excitement over - back to the Sunday school preparations - which I am doing whilst listening to Garrison Keillor's Radio show on the PC - joining in with Jearlyn Steele, who is singing...

Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,
Sing His mercy and His grace.
In the mansions bright and blessèd
He’ll prepare for us a place.

When we all get to Heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We’ll sing and shout the victory!

Let us then be true and faithful,
Trusting, serving every day;
Just one glimpse of Him in glory
Will the toils of life repay.

Onward to the prize before us!
Soon His beauty we’ll behold;
Soon the pearly gates will open;
We shall tread the streets of gold.

They don't write 'em like that any more.
