What A Wonderful Day

We began with breakfast at 8 in the Queen's Head in Foulsham. A good meal to set us up for a long day.

9-10 at the church, loading tables into the cars and helping Nick [the minister] get ready for the service. 10-11 Morning service. 11-12.30 putting up the gazebo, organising the craft tables, story corner and Royal Photo area. And time for lunch before all the people arrived
Tents and tables all set up, and a Thankyou letter from the Palace

Richard rang the bell, and Nick's Tricks included escaping from a straitjacket
Friends and families enjoyed fine food and good entertainment. I thought the Princess of Wales had arrived in her patriotic hat.
One lady brought the little dress she'd worn at a Street Party 70 years ago!
Children made spinners and model monarchs - and lots of crowns. They dressed up as Kings and Queens, and parents and grans took pictures. They listened intently to my storytelling and cheered Nick's Tricks. Our church tent was incredibly well received.

Wonderful comments
  • Nick's the minister from your church?
  • This was part of a bedroom blind?
  • My Nan's got a treacle tin just like that!
  • You did the Holiday Club for us didn't you?
  • Did you really make all the waistcoats?
  • When are we doing this again? it's lovely
Spare crowns were donated to Amanda for decoration at Toddler Group. Crayons went back into boxes. Craft tables were wiped. The lovely team from the church helped take everything down and pack it all away, and then helped unload stuff back at church. Home for some food and feet up in front of TV and the Coronation Concert [What fun!]

It was a lovely day in the sunshine, the community being together and having fun.
Monday will be spent relaxing [and putting stuff back into the loft]
I hope you've had a good weekend too.

  2. You really know how to organize a party, Angela. It looks and sounds like a wonderful time (but, a lot of work for you!) Glad you are able to have a relaxing day, today.

  3. What a delightful day and I am seriously envious of your amazing energy.

That letter should be framed and go in the town hall or museum!

    Hugs!

  4. That sounds like so much fun and a triumph of organizing! I do see the resemblance between the lady in the red, white and blue hat and the Princess of Wales. How lovely to see that 70 year old dress that was worn for a street party when the Queen was crowned. I don't think I wore anything red, white and blue back then; probably my working, war widow mother didn't have time or money for that, but I did have a good time watching the Coronation on TV at a party.
