The Wool Warehouse it will be delivered* in a tulle drawstring bag. This is useful for keeping knitting clean and tidy, containing the balls of yarn and the knitted pieces. I have just started a new project. It is rather complex so I'm not revealing anything yet.
But I did want to mention that this is the second time I've used WW and I am very pleased with their stuff, and there is lots to check out on the website. As well as knitting yarns, patterns and accessories, they have sewing stuff too. [*WW give you the eco-option of 'no bag' if you want to avoid unnecessary packaging.]
The dictionary defines
wool-gathering as "indulgence in idle daydreaming, or aimless wandering of the mind" I will just say that the latest pattern I am working on requires 100% concentration so I am doing just a dozen rows each day.
Do you have anything on your needles right now?
Yes, WW is very good. I knit charity blankets for small babies in hospital but they have to be easy to wash so can’t be wool and I really want to stop using manmade yarn. At the moment I’m compromising by using scraps and not buying more.
ReplyDeleteI understand your dilemma. I've decided to try and buy wool for my own jumpers, but reluctantly continue with acrylics for the children's garments simply because of the ease of washing them.

I'm a great fan of woolwarehouse too.
Sorting out my stuff I found half the back of a baby jumper knitted with stash yarn. The stitch pattern is strange. That needs to be unravelled and repurposed!
DeleteI don’t knit. I could never get on with it and kept splitting stitches so my piece got wider and wider as I went. I did crochet a few things but my hands no longer allow that. My sister has been doing some clearing out recently and gave me some half-finished booties my mother had knitted. We assume she was part way through knitting them when she miscarried so they’ve been on the needles for around 75 years.

DeleteYes! I've got children's scarves for Christmas on my circular needle. The wool (Jitterbug) and the needle (Symfonie) were both from Wool Warehouse and I've used them for years. However, despite my always ticking the box, they always send the tulle bags. I'm running out of recipients for the bags (but not the scarves).

DeleteThat is so spooky! I just ordered some nice merino from WW for a triangular scarf that one of my DIL asked for. We were at an art gallery last week and the shop was selling them for £36 and she said 'I'd love one of those ' so I said 'I can knit one for you'! Of course she wants a red one but as is the way, I didn't have anything red in my stash so on to WW I did go! Other than the bags from them, I buy those veggie bags from Tesco to keep projects in. I'm intrigued to know what your project is but I'm guessing it involves colourwork?!!

DeleteAgreed, WW gives excellent service. I have two projects on the go, plus several old ones in my "to finish" collection of half knitted jumpers!

DeleteKirsten M’s comment made me smile, yes, definitely got things on the needles, often several things at once as I’m a butterfly when it comes to crafting. I have just finished a scrappy blanket that used up about a third of my stash. Also finished a cotton 4 ply ombré shawl - both of those crochet. I’m halfway through a knitted jumper and halfway through a hat knitted in the round………I’ve just started a continuous granny square stash buster blanket in pinks for my grand girls………and breathe 😂

DeleteI have been using Wool Warehouse for a number of years now as I find that their prices are always slightly lower than any other website. I love the amount of choice and the sheer amount of manufacturers they offer. I always have either a knitting or crochet project on the go often stash busting blankets that I then sell at our church coffee mornings for as much as people can afford donating the money to the church funds.
