"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."[H. James]
Yesterday afternoon I was able to spend some time enjoying tea, [and scones, and jam and clotted cream] with a good friend. And we had some great conversation.
Henry James has a point! I felt truly blessed, and wonderfully relaxed. W E Gladstone apparently said
"If you are cold, tea will warm you-
If you are heated, it will cool you-
If you are depressed, it will cheer you-
If you are excited, it will calm you."
Time to put the kettle on again, I think!
I am not allowed caffine at the moment and I am really missing my real tea!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing quite so comforting as proper English afternoon tea!
ReplyDeleteHow true I must say I'm not human until I have my first cup of tea of the day lol!!!!! Marie x
ReplyDeleteThat would be 'proper' tea, not tea bags, would it??
ReplyDeleteI think sharing a drink with a friend often leads to good conversation. Well, and a meal. Maybe its the sharing.
MadMum - have you tried Redbush?? that is caffeine free and almost as good as the proper stuff!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Redbush tip Angela.
ReplyDeleteI love love love tea and drink loads each day - it is just so comforting isn't it? The world is a much better place when you have a cup of tea in your hands - lol!
