Just Wondering…

At the end of Liz’s road is a building, owned by Southwark Council, and on the side door are some signs which fascinated me the other weekend whenever I walked past them.

If the door must be kept shut AT ALL TIMES, how is one supposed to get through it?

I was intrigued by the bottom rather dog-eared notice, but Jon informs me that this is a well respected band which has been around for almost thirty years. It seems that the UO of GB looks like this…

ukelele orchestra of GB

I wonder if my friend Gary has considered applying to join them?

  1. I'll need a lot more practice - maybe one day!
They're coming to De Monfort Hall in February - I'm hoping to go and see them.

  2. Those signs have made me smile this morning-thank you! If you ever get the chance to see the Ukelele Orchestra do take it. They are absolutely brilliant! We saw them a few years ago as a family and still talk about it . Penny Lxx

  4. I watched the Ukele orchestra on You-tube. I think they are very talented and it's lovely that such an ensemble has formed BUT the whole sound and set up of playing cheesy classics on plinky high-pitched ukeles just somehow makes me cringe a bit!x

  5. I've been to see them and have a CD. Kezzie - you may feel differently if you see them live. Great musicianship and lots of fun. Highly recommended.

  6. Just now I'd quite like to be behind a door that never opens! Even if it did hide some ukulele players... Sounds like the plot of some new Dr Who episode.
