The Future's Bright, The Future's Orange

 That slogan is thirty years old. Do you remember it...

I've harvested the last of my lovely orange carrots from the raised bed. They have been delicious. I also took out the remaining chard  and salad leaves and made a big batch green soup to portion and freeze. Warm lunches for cold days... 
The Bone Cancer Research Trust sent me a thank you card, and bright orange tee shirt. I continue to knit at least 30 minutes a day, often more. And there are lots of satsumas and easy peelers in the shops, a favourite snack. And those orange autumn leaves are everywhere...

    I do re member that advert. Your carrots look great! You could leave your chard in. It does grow over winter and/or will come back. Kx

    That’s a decent looking bunch of carrots. Not an easy crop to grow I find.

      Thank you. I can't remember what variety it was. I will check my notes. Much more successful than last year's efforts, and a really good flavour. I picked some early as 'baby carrots' to thin out the planting, and left the others to grow longer and fatter. Very few straggly misshapen ones this year

    Brilliant carrots. Not always easy to grow. Orange seems to be the colour this season.

    Your carrots look great. Raised beds are the answer for carrots aren't they? Well done on your knitting challenge, a worthy cause. It's grey here today, again, hoping for some sunshine 🌞 later to shine on the beech tree and turn it more orange in its autumn splendour. Regards Sue H

    Your carrots look wonderful! I tried growing carrots, last year, and didn't have much success.

    Like potatoes, 🥔🥔🥔I think they are incredibly versatile.🥕🥕🥕 Perhaps even more so - cooked as aside eg, rain salad, baked into cakes, batons for snacks and crudites....

    What lovely carrots you have grown! Most of our leaves are now brown and on the ground, but the beech trees usually keep their leaves. However, they don't look as orange as usual to me. Maybe they don't want to join in an orange future, however bright a certain politician would like to paint it!

    I remember that advert well, the slogan guys did well there. Orange is Alan's favourite colour, I'm not so keen really, but I have found over the years that more and more orange touches are creeping into my life. :-)

      Not my favourite colour. As a child I thought traffic lights, red-orange-green meant stop, get set, go... Now i recognise orange /amber means "wait, be cautious, proceed carefully when things change..."
