I’ve done it! My cardi is all done. I think I like it – but I am a little slimmer than when I began knitting it, I may have to take it in a bit. I spent ages deciding on buttons – Sandie [of Sandie’s Patch] had some beautiful blue shell buttons, which she very kindly offered me – but there were only 5 and I needed 6.
I decided to pick out the colours from the pastel multicolour yarn spots in the ribbing. I found 6 different vintage buttons and sewed them on. If a sugar pink one turns up in the stash, I may replace the red one at the bottom – but I love the Dolly Mixture feel of it!
Now to consider my next knitting project…
Lovely cardi. I like the designer touch with the buttons

ReplyDeleteWell done! It looks lovely. My favourite colour. I really must finish my knitting project.
ReplyDeleteVERY lovely, Angela! Great job. I can't imagine tackling a project like that! And your button selection is perfect with the blue background.
ReplyDeleteI think its lovely Angela and I think the different buttons add to the prettiness of it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty cardigan! How did you get the coloured bits? Love the buttons too. I'll make a note of that site. If you tell us the size of the buttons, we might have one to send you.
ReplyDeleteI really like the 1940's vibe of the cardi!

I ADORE mis-matched coloured buttons! You've done a super job on this!x
ReplyDeleteThe shell buttons wouldn't have looked so good me thinks!
ReplyDeleteThe cardi looks like one my mum was wearing in a phot I have of her, taken on her 21st birthday! I'll look it up and post it sometime on my blog. Meanwhile, looking for a pink vintage style button in my stash..........
Just read Jane and Chris's comment, the photo of my mum would have been taken on July 18th 1945!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the lovely comments- I am away from home this weekend - will measure the buttons on my return, just in case you do have a vintage pink one. Thanks again!
