The film is out today. It wasn't filmed in the forests round Thetford, and apart from Ian Lavender [the stupid boy is now playing an elderly officer], I don't think there are any 'originals' left. I will reserve judgement until I have seen it. But the trailer is fun...
Interesting that they chose to make the characters look like they did in the original, there was no doubting who was who even if their name wasn't mentioned.
I read an interesting article about the Picture Post magazine, who apparently started a kind of training school for the early Home Guard at Osterly Park. It was all a bit hit and miss, weapons being shipped in from USA, odd people training in 'cunning' etc! But the film scriptwriters had a lot of help from the old articles in the Post.
I'll finish what I started …. The plot was weak, the gags and jokes few and far between. The in between parts were boring. Oh dear - I was wanting to go and view. xx
Preacher, teacher, wife, mother, grandmother, craftswoman. Married to wonderful Pastor Bob since 1979, now happily retired to Norfolk, but still busy. I am blessed with two brilliant grown-up daughters and four wonderful grand children
