...It's Not A Dinosaur!
What??!! THe ominous dark crack in the egg widened on Thursday [Day 4] and all was revelaed on Friday. It is a penguin
Steph says the instructions recommend leaving the penguin in water for a while longer as it may increase in size.
[That is Bob's hand, by the way]
The bird has a weird texture and lumpy feet, so he won't stand up by himself.[Maybe this is a female, with an emergent egg...]
We will send George pictures - but I am not sure if we can keep Pingu in good condition until we visit in mid February
Meanwhile, enjoy an old ad for a popular chocolate bar
I'd forgotten that ad!

DeleteI cannot remember the last time I ate a Penguin biscuit (I prefer a Tunnock or a Club)
ReplyDeleteI also prefer a Tunnock's or Club and haven't eaten one in an absolute age Ang! (Last bit of that sentence is a bit of a tongue twister!)
ReplyDeleteLove that advert.
The penguin is definitely very rustic-looking! Good luck with keeping it alive!
What variety of penguin is it?
Kezzie xx
Goodness knows? Rigatoni (like macaroni but less common)
DeleteThe newly hatched penguin looks rather interesting! Cute commercial; never seen it before!
ReplyDeletePenguin chocolate biscuits have been very popular in the UK for more than 60 years
DeletePenguin biscuits were a staple of school lunch boxes back in the 60s/70s - they all tasted the same but for some reason I didn't like the green wrapped ones!!!
ReplyDeleteAlison in Wales x
I understand. I only liked red ones
DeleteI also haven't eaten a penguin in years. I didn't know you could still get them, probably because I don't look for things like that......that supermarket aisle is far too dangerous for me to wander down!
ReplyDeleteI now feel compelled to check!
Look, but don't buy!
DeleteSomehow a penguin seems less threatening than a dinosaur, but I wonder if some children would actually prefer the latter?
ReplyDeleteDinosaurs are very popular with children
DeleteWow, what a disappointment if you were expecting a dinosaur. Oh well you can p..p..per pick up a penguin instead.
ReplyDeleteActually I think the bathroom ducks are happier with a penguin
DeleteI used to love them and they were a real treat!
ReplyDeleteI had forgotten all about them.
Could you freeze George's little penguin until he comes again? JanF
I'll see how he dries out
DeleteWhatever will people thing up next? An "egg" that hatches is so very creative! Good luck keeping iit plump for more than a minth.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
We wait and hopd
DeleteKeep the penguin out of the water until you visit George - it will shrink down and he can grow it again!
ReplyDeleteYou can get novelty kits like ‘grow yourself a boyfriend’ and it’s a little figurine made of the same stuff. As soon as it leaves water it starts to shrink but plumps up again when it gets wet
Thank you "Anon" for this really helpful information!
