Casting Off...

It is the end of the month and therefore the end of my knitting challenge. I was supposed to do 30 minutes every day. That would be 30 x 30 =900 minutes = 15 hours
There were two days when I only managed a brief 10 minute knit [looking after grandchildren was keeping me rather  busy] but in total I've knitted for over 60 hours not counting today, And my generous sponsors [thank you all] have helped me to raise over £450 for the Bone Cancer Research Trust. My JustGiving Page will be open for another two weeks, and I'm hoping to pass the £500 mark.
What did I knit? One of my Christmas Projects, and a lot of little mini-jumpers. But the second project [a knitted nativity] has languished untouched. I realised that I didn't actually like it! Mary, Joseph and Jesus were knitted in Dorset, but not sewn up. I may just complete those three and make a little stable - without the collection of angels, animals, shepherd and magi outside...
I have enjoyed the challenge, and the opportunity to promote a very worthwhile cause. And the weather has certainly proved an encouragement to stay inside.

    1. I did try and space it out through the day and intersperse with other activities

  2. My mum knitted Mary and Joseph and most importantly baby Jesus many years ago. They come out every year and my younger cousins remember them from their childhood which is lovely

  4. Thank you Sue. I had a message from a different charity who are doing a similar thing through December, asking if I'd like to participate. I declined!! Not sure it's the best time of year tbh, people will have all their Christmas stuff going on.

  5. Well done on completing the challenge and on raising a good amount of money for the charity. I too started a nativity set and didn’t finish it but used the yarn up for various other projects. Catriona

    1. This set came with the yarn for 'the Holy Family' but you are supposed to provide your own yarn for the other characters. I had amassed some odd balls of dk, but I think they will be recycled into something else next year!

  11. Well done with the knitting challenge!
As for the knitted Nativity, by all means finish the three figures, but life is too short to spend making more if you don't really like it. A simple stable would be enough to make them attractive to display or gift to someone.

  12. Well done on all the knitting and raising funds for Bone Cancer research. Wise of you to decline participating in the December charity drive as it tends to be such a busy month.
