We are going to the Parish Church in our village today. The chaplain from the Army Camp is leading the service. In the churchyard is an area full of War Graves. [the camp was an RAF airfield in WW2]
We will remember those who died in war then, and we will pray for peace now.
Peace now. Amen.

DeleteIt's so important to remember, and to pray for an end to wars everywhere.

DeleteToo many died too young. Let's hope their sacrifice is remembered and made worthwhile by our lives today. May we be inspired to truly appreciate what they did, what they gave up.

DeleteWe had the Last Post and time of silence before mass, and then before the recessional hymn, we sang "O Canada" in English and French. Tomorrow there will be a service at the Cenotaph in the town.

DeleteAmen. My dad was a Chief Tech, in the RAF. We lived in Swanton Morley. From 1984 until 1987. 37 years later, and I now live in Reepham. I was a brownie then, and used to attend the parade for Remembrance Day at that Church. Take care of yourselves x
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to hear of this connection. Sadly there were no Guides or Scouts parading at the Parish church this morning. It will be strange when the Army moves out, and we have no military presence in the village, after 80+ years.
DeleteMay they rest in peace.

DeleteWe will remember them. Oh, for peace everywhere we pray! Kx
