More domestic failures! I had a shower and the water didn't out properly. ๐ฟThen Bob experienced the same thing. We decided the spray head was furred up. I did a bit of fossicking with a pin to unclog the holes, then brushed it clean with water and washing up liquid.
Bits of grey plastic cracked off and the water still didn't run through efficiently.
So we had to buy a new spray head, from Screwfix. It has 5 settings, from dribble to monsoon*. The middle one suits us best.[*jet-massage-rain-full-drench] Expecting Showers Of Blessing now๐ฟ

Just in case
Ah, I've been wondering what that thingy at the back of the kitchen drawer was for!

DeleteWho knew such a thing was possible with dishwashers!?
ReplyDeleteI usually do big baking sheets by hand in the sink
DeleteLiving in an area with hard water, I have to descale the kettle regularly so I put the shower head in there too. Easy peasy.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good move
DeleteWe recently discovered two cloth bags with vacuum cleaner bits in them. Eventually we worked out that they belonged to old machines long gone, so they have gone into the recycling bin for plastics! Catriona
ReplyDeleteIt's that "just in case" habit. I recently found a bag of hairdryer nozzles and diffusers [which I'd kept after the dryers broke, ] going back more than 20 years to when my girls were in their teens.
DeleteAngela, I keep our shower head from furring up by putting it in a jug and covering the head with white vinegar for an hour or so. Just run some water through, I don't throw the vinegar away, put it in a spray bottle and use it for cleaning windows etc.

DeleteWe had to get a new shower head last week! Our old one was spurting water in funny directions with the central part spurting nothing at all. Like you we tried cleaning it but to no avail. All sorted now. That dishwasher gadget looks as if it could be useful. Regards Sue H

DeleteI periodically soak the shower head in sterilising fluid, gets rid of the gunk that accumulates. My new dishwasher has a pull out cutlery tray at the top instead of a basket. Feels very modern! I also just bought one of those funky new cordless vacuums (Amazon vouchers for my birthday). Wow what a difference not to have to haul my old cylinder cleaner around! Maybe you could do a post on vacuum cleaners!?
ReplyDeleteMy DW has a top tray too. So exciting!
DeleteThis just reminded me that I need to unclog our shower head. We have hard water here, full of minerals, that really ruins our coffee makers, faucets, and shower heads over time.

DeleteA successful water fuelled day for sure.
ReplyDeleteWe have taken Alan's little handheld GTECH vacuum to Mum's for doing all the hard to reach places and edges and it wasn't sucking up properly for me, so I pulled it apart to check the filter, it was completely furred up with THREE years worth of his hoovering ... he didn't know it had a filter!! Needless to say it's brilliant now. :-)

DeleteIt's amazing the gadgets that you get with appliances. I don't think I've ever used any of them.
ReplyDeleteSometimes they seem just pointless additions
DeleteLike some other commenters we have hard water and have to do the vinegar soak, too. Our shower head is needing another session so thanks for the reminder!

DeleteI am now wondering if I should try soaking my shower head in vinegar to improve its flow - it's one of those water saving shower heads and I have hard water in my area.
ReplyDeleteLimescale from hard water can easily clog the little jets
