Simple Joys

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue, and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands, saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying “I love you”

I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Oooh yeah….

  1. I belong to a singing for fun choir and this is a song we sing regularly, especially if the world news is bad - which is pretty often. It always makes us feel better and that despite troubles everywhere there is always something wonderful to think on too. Thank you for posting this and a happy Sunday to you and yours. Regards Sue H

    1. Thiele and Weiss, the writers said they wrote it at the time of the Kennedy assassination/VietnamWar/racial strife to be a life affirming song, and they wrote it for Louis because they said his voice "had the gift of bringing people together". Nearly 60 years on, this beautiful song is still doing that.

  7. I love your calendar, and I love that song. There is enough bad in this world, so it is very important to see all the good things.
