Christmassy Thoughts

DSCF1337

A kind thought from a friend – she received these and isn’t able to enjoy them in her home over the next week or so – she kindly passed them on to me instead. Aren’t they fabulous!

Less cheerful…

If Christmas Day on Saturday fall,
That winter's to be dreaded by all.
It shall be so full of great tempest,
That it shall slay both man and beast.

From Poor Robin's Almanack (published 1663 - 1776)

My friend Carole sent that gem – was Poor Robin a meteorologist?

Did you know that “Christougenniatiko dentrophobia” means “fear of Christmas Trees” ?

btw, what do you use to tie your parcels?

I’ve been using this lovely Christmassy string – it reminds me of two favourite bible verses from Matthew and Isaiah

She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins

“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

  1. Poor Robin might be right, considering how some of this country got hit with really bad storms and it wasn't even winter yet!

I don't see how anyone could be afraid of Christmas Trees. I'd more likely be afraid of biting my tongue trying to pronounce that word!

Love the candy cane string! And those flowers are gorgeous!

Have a beautiful Christmas and a wonderful 2011!
