I collected Liz from the station, and we all went for an early meal at the Royal Oak, then we had our annual interactive Sing Christmas Carol Service with BBC Radio Leicester in the pub’s function room.
Over 90 turned up this year, great atmosphere, good singing [and lovely mince pies from Sarah – our landlady] and over £100 collected for the local hospice.
I took photos through the evening, and also at the end, we massed together by the bar for a group picture [Bob took that – he was the tallest present!]
Everything worked well and we got a mention on the radio [much cheering]
And tomorrow, Steph comes home!
Many many years ago- my son's dad and I used to run a pub and the tradition was that we had a full carol service, with readings in the pub a week before Christmas. The local minister conducted the service and a brass band played the music. We could barely close the doors. We also did that to raise money for the local hospice and I remember making mince pies, all day to give away to people. Magical memories xx
