Down the centre The Postcard Project. conceived, delivered, dated and signed by us both
As you can see, we used lots of different techniques over the two panels
cross stitch, back stitch, blackwork, waste canvas work, Dorset Buttons, knitting, appliqué, beadwork, boro, and a huge variety of embroidery stitches... and we worked round the panels in quite random ways. Having agreed to 'take September off', the death of the Queen meant a special royal announcement needed to be recorded on both pieces.
People have been so kind in comments, and suggestions. We hope it may have inspired some of you to work on collaborative stitching, It has certainly developed our stitching skills, and deepened our friendship.
I never dreamed I would gain so much when I began this exciting journey of discovery
It's been brilliant watching this evolve! Can't wait to see what you do next!
ReplyDeleteYou will!!!
DeleteA real triumph.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It was exciting to approach the end of our stitching year and realise we were both thinking "what next?"
DeleteWhat a memory of friendship and crafty skills. It’s amazing that the pieces of work we t backwards and forwards by post and survived! I think I would look out for a deal online and try to have this photo made into a canvas to hang beside the one you will be framing. Happy weekend! Catriona
ReplyDeleteHaving the two pieces meant we each have one to keep - and I guess a sort of insurance if one got lost in the post. Id not thought about a canvas. I'll check that idea out.thank you C.
DeleteThese are the sort of projects that are so satisfying, the planning and collaboration and creativity - lovely
ReplyDeleteAlison in Wales x
You are absolutely right!!
DeleteAgain, beautiful. I LOVE the little knitting and it's needles. xx
ReplyDeleteI cheated a bit there. I knitted the square on the finest needles I had (regular length) them carefully slid the stitches onto a needle made from a vintage plastic cocktail stick and a Hama bead!
Deleteagain just stunning, both are works of art.
ReplyDeleteThank you 👍
DeleteYou and Kirsten each have something personal and tangible to cherish as you cherish your friendship!
ReplyDeleteAll of the designs are supurb!
Hugs!
The friendship has been the best part, the stitching is a tangible reminder
