Thankyou
Please
Help
I think almost all prayers can be put into these three categories
We have so much to be thankful for, and it is good to count our blessings and acknowledge things
There are lots of situations where we need to say please - asking God to bless our friends, our neighbours, our country and our world.
And many situations where we are not sure what to say, how to act, where to turn - and we need help from Someone greater.Today is the Annual General Meeting at our little chapel.
- I thank God for those who meet there, all the work that is done in the community, all the friendships represented, and the opportunity to meet and worship in freedom
- I ask God to guide and bless Nick the Pastor, the deacons, leaders of the different weekly groups - and to comfort the lonely and bereaved, heal this sick, and encourage us all
- I ask for His help to show us how to share God's love in our community, and enable us to do more good stuff and overcome our inertia, and help us to be generous with time, money and resources.
Do you have any Thankyou, Please, Help prayers today?
It's good to have some kind of starting point for organising our prayers, even if our thoughts then go off in some direction. Thank you for this.

ReplyDeleteI like the page you did in your notebook.
ReplyDeleteI do start and end each day with a "Thank you" and a "Please" and there is a request for "Help" built into the "Please".
You are right , Bless - 🙏❤️👍
DeleteYes I do but so often my mind is in a whirl so it is good to have a starting point where to try and be more organised. I normally jump from thing to thing. I always say thank you first as I am so grateful for many, many things in my life and for my loved ones. I often then ask for how I may support my family, friends and local community. Lastly help in how to make my way with feeling so impotent with the wider world and so many troubles. That is often my stumbling block but just trying to make my thoughts more coherent helps and I always feel calmer even though I know there is so much I cannot do but there is always something I can do. Thank you for a thought provoking post. Regards Sue H

DeleteToday is the Feast of St Peter and St Paul. Between they encapsulate the Gospel. We pray in thanks for their great works.
ReplyDeleteYou're right about these two saints. May we have grace to follow 🙏❤️👍
DeleteThis is a good way to pray. I find my mind wandering when I pray although I try to stick to the Acts structure.
ReplyDeleteToday, my friend John said today that sometimes we need to just Be with God sometimes and I realised that God says,, "I am. Just be" when I'm trying to make things happen by my own actions and not waiting on him x

ACTS is a helpful structure. And yes, sometimes we just need to be still and listen
